Francine brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the Justitia team and is passionate about getting to know her clients’ businesses and delivering pertinent, practical advice.

With a broad legal background, including experience in a general commercial practice, Francine has particular expertise in risk mitigation and working with clients to ensure their employment practices are sound and reliable.

Areas of Practice

With an extensive legal background in employment law and workplace relations, commercial litigation and general commercial practice, Francine has a wide set of skills to assist clients with a range of employment matters.

Francine regularly advises on matters such as employment contracts and policies, award interpretation, termination of employment and redundancies.

Experience and expertise

Recent examples of work undertaken by Francine include:

  • Working closely with a large NDIS Disability Support Worker provider, with respect to their employment contracts and policies, and general advice and support with managing a large casual workforce.
  • Representing a client in the fitness industry in a Fair Work Commission general protections matter, alleging several contraventions of the Fair Work Act, including sham contracting.
  • Providing comprehensive advice and recommendations on performance management and disciplinary matters within the workplace.
  • Advising a purchaser with respect to the transfer of approx. 100 employees as part of a business sale acquisition.
  • Advising on appropriate procedures when effecting redundancies by reference to modern award and EBA requirements, as well as best practice.
  • Drafting and advising on all types of employment contracts, executive employment agreements, policies and procedures.
  • Complex legal advices ranging from employee vs independent contractor arrangements, long-service leave obligations and entitlements, superannuation guarantee contribution obligations for contractors, and managing underperforming employees.

Professional and Community Engagement

Francine has previously been a board member for the Riding for the Disabled Association of Victoria and a Committee Member of Women in Insolvency and Restructuring Victoria (WIRV).

Francine was also a ‘hands on’ volunteer for several years at a local Riding for the Disabled riding centre.

She is passionate about giving back to the community, especially where horses are concerned (she has rescued two off the track thoroughbred ex-racehorses to date!)
