Stephanie Shahine
Stephanie has worked in both the public sector and the Not-for-profit sector. Having started her career at the Fair Work Commission (the Commission) in various roles including an Agreements assessor, a Case Manager in the Unfair Dismissals Arbitration team and finally as an Associate to a Commissioner. Most recently, prior to joining Justitia, she worked for a Registered Trade Union and has assisted and represented Applicants with their employment law or industrial disputes. Stephanie has gained valuable insight into the procedural requirements in progressing a claim at the Commission and brings with her the knowledge of what Applicants may be seeking in order to reach a fair outcome.

Stephanie’s experience includes advising on employment contracts, entitlements under a Modern Award or Industrial Instrument, performance management, disciplinary matters, redundancy, discrimination and termination.

Stephanie has also worked on collective matters and participated in enterprise bargaining and assisted with the drafting of clauses in enterprise agreements.

She has worked on claims before the Fair Work Commission and Federal Court.


Recent examples of work undertaken by Stephanie include:

  • Participating in enterprise bargaining negotiations with a large multi-national employer;
  • Advising on various employment issues in relation to employment disputes, including unfair dismissals, general protections, underpayment and discrimination claims;
  • Advising on complex contract of employment clauses particularly, in relation to restraint of trade and intellectual property; and
  • Researching and drafting submissions for the 4-yearly review of the Professional Employees Award 2010.

Stephanie is a member of the Industrial Relations Society of Victoria and the Law Institute of Victoria (LIV), including the Young Lawyers Committee and the Law Reform Committee within the LIV.
